Erectile Dysfunction

Erectile Dysfunction linked to Atherosclerosis

Erectile Dysfunction and Atherosclerosis

.
Erectile dysfunction due to atherosclerosis has been shown to be
a harbinger of a stroke or a heart attack.

Your Body's many cries for waterErectile Dysfunction Atherosclerosis are linked.

Atherosclerosis is the hardening in the arteries as a result of a build-up of plaque containing cholesterol, fat-laden materials and cellular debris.

Today, most people are aware that smoking and the consumption of fat-laden foods lead to the production of these plaques that end up clogging arteries, thus preventing the easy flow of blood to the heart and other parts of the body.

Atherosclerosis is a process that occurs systematically throughout the whole body, and is not just confined to the arteries supplying the heart.

And most men are not aware that these same plaques can also block up the arteries leading to the genitals resulting in the difficulty, or inability, to attain an erection.

Artherosclerosis restricts the supply of blood to the penis and also to the nerves that govern sexual arousal, thereby resulting in a failure in the man ‘to perform’.

Men with diseased coronary arteries are more likely to suffer from erectile dysfunction than those individuals free from coronary disease.

If erectile dysfunction / impotence in a man is caused by the clogged-up blood vessels of atherosclerosis, it is imperative that the man reduces the cardiovascular risks of elevated cholesterol and triglyceride levels, high blood pressure, obesity, smoking and a general lack of physical exercise.

Adopting a diet low in fat, an exercise program, and a healthy lifestyle that includes stopping smoking, is necessary to help reverse the problem.

Types of Erectile Dysfunction

Types of Erectile Dysfunction

Types of Erectile Dysfunction
What are the different types of
Male Impotence / Erectile Dysfunction?

There are many physiological conditions that could lead to erectile dysfunction / male impotence.

Knowledge about these is helpful in finding a solution to the affliction.

A Narrowing of The Arteries
.
The first of the different types of erectile dysfunction is a narrowing of the arteries’

This can be due to various reasons (like that in old age, high blood pressure, diabetes and injury to the genital region that may result a blockage in the arteries leading to the penis) and may result in a reduced supply of blood to the penis resulting in erectile dysfunction / male impotence (an inability to produce an erection).

In younger men, injury to the genital region is very common. This can be a sudden and major injury such as can occur in a car / motor accident that causes a fracture in the pubic bones or pelvis.

It can also be gradual such as occurs in cyclists due to sustained friction in the penile area, causing a clot (thrombus) to develop in the artery to the penis. The clot increases in size gradually, and eventually blocks completely the supply of blood to the penis. The remedy for this then would be a microsurgical bypass operation which is a penile revascularization procedure.

Male impotence / erectile dysfunction that occur due to injuries to the arteries is common although it is rarely diagnosed, mainly due to ignorance of the possibility of such causes.

Such patients populate orthopedic and urology wards, and male impotence / erectile dysfunction is often discovered later by the patients themselves when the emergency is over and their more apparent injuries and fractures have healed.

Veins of the penis not closing completely to trap the blood required for an erection
During full erection in a healthy man, the veins in the penis close completely, preventing blood flowing out from the penis.

The blood that accumulates in the sinusoids of the penis increases the pressure required for the hardness and rigidity of the penis. In the absence of this action on the part of the veins, blood filters out from the penis and thus the man experiences flacidity instead of rigidity in his penis.

This type of impotence is very common, and accounts for between 30 to 70% of all male impotence / erectile dysfunction. Some men are born with this condition and never experience a rigid erection at all. Other men afflicted with this type of impotence / erectile dysfunction usually experience this suddenly after years of normal erectile function.

Defective Nerve supply to The Penis
.
Another type of erectile dysfunction is a defective nerve supply to the penis.

The nerve supply to the penis plays a vital role in the initiation and maintenance of rigidity in an erection in a man. A good nerve supply allows for the proper conduction of impulses required for a healthy rigid erection. These nerves activate the arteries and veins in the penis, altering the dynamics of blood flow within them.

However, this nerve supply is highly complex and delicate, and many things can cause it to become defective, and result in erectile dysfunction / impotence in a man. Some possible causes include:

  1. Back injuries, especially those involving the vertebral column and spinal cord.

  2. Pelvic or perineal trauma.

  3. Operations such as those on the spine, urinary bladder, rectum, prostate and urethra may lead to incidental injury to the nerves of the penis.

  4. Nervous system disorders such as multiple sclerosis and tumors may cause male impotence / erectile dysfunction if the nerve supply to the penis is involved.

  5. Some drugs can also cause impotence if they affect the neurotransmitters at the
nerve endings. The list of such drugs is   extensive, and include anti-hypertensives
(for lowering blood pressure) and psychotropics. A medication prescribed for some
medical condition (usually unrelated to impotence / erectile dysfunction) may well
be the culprit of a man’s impotence.

Hormonal Causes
.
An insufficiency or imbalance of sex hormones in the blood stream may lead to erectile dysfunction / impotence in a man. This can also result from a wide variety of diseases. About 10% of men suffering from impotence / erectile dysfunction fall into this group.

Mixed Causes
.
In some impotent men, there may be many many factors at play that lead to their condition. Such men usually have systemic disease like kidney failure, liver failure and diabetes.

Some men with a long-standing history of impotence / erectile dysfunction may suffer from secondary psychiatric disorders such as depression.

These men begin with an organic health challenge that is either undiagnosed, untreated or maltreated, and which with time, plays on their minds and eventually takes its toll mentally. Such men think, or have been led to think, that their malady has no cure and give up hope.

Psychogenic Impotence
.
In the absence of an organic cause, the root of the problem then has to be entirely mental. In such cases, one must exercise caution and make the necessary investigations that give proof of the absence of organic or physical causes, after which treatment and management of the condition can proceed in an organized way.

A Message to all Men
.
Knowledge of the various physiological conditions that could lead to erectile dysfunction / male impotence is helpful for any man wishing to take charge of his sexual health.

Low Cholesterol

Types of Erectile Dysfunction

Low cholesterol can be very dangerous – This is a fact.

low cholesterol is dangerous

Not so long ago, aside from people with a genetic predisposition, it was people like long-distance runners or cancer patients who were supposed to have cholesterol levels below 160.

Today, due to new statin guidelines from pharmaceutical companies, doctors are now prescribing statins to patients for them to achieve those previously rare levels.

This is despite assertions that, today, it’s no longer just about the number any more. From health enthusiasts to professionals and to housewives, the popular belief is that the lower your cholesterol level, the better it is for your health.

The truth is that your body needs cholesterol to stay healthy – yes, even the so-called “bad” cholesterol.

Cholesterol has many vital roles as far as your (good) health is concerned.

The Dangers of Low Cholesterol Levels

  • It has the important task of helping build and maintain cell walls. People afflicted with cancer have low levels of cholesterol. This is due to the fact that cholesterol is used up heavily by rapidly dividing cancer cells.
  • Cholesterol is necessary for the production of sex hormones and fat-digesting bile. Cholesterol is also required for synthesizing vitamin D that is absorbed from the sun’s rays.
  • Cholesterol also has an important role in metabolizing other fat-soluble vitamins ~ A, E and K.

Without cholesterol, your cells would simply disintegrate. That’s how important cholesterol is. This includes both the “good” HDL and the “bad” LDL cholesterol.

LDL has been labelled the “bad” cholesterol. However, the fact is that without your so-called “bad” LDL cholesterol, you’d die. Perhaps it isn’t so bad after all.

Serious health problems that are characterized by abnormally low levels of cholesterol

include

  • liver disease
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • An overactive thyroid
  • Poor absorption of nutrients
  • Cancer ~ yes, low cholesterol levels is linked with cancer.

The Framingham Heart Study

In 2012, researchers from Tufts found that there was a higher incidence of cancer linked to consistent low LDL cholesterol levels. This analysis featured 201 new cases of cancer, and over 400 cancer-free controls.

This study raises many questions about the risks of low cholesterol. Extremely low levels can raise the risk of death by a whopping 20%.

The NHLBI (National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute) Research

Results from 19 different studies in 1990 indicated that those participants with total cholesterol levels under 160 had a 10 to 20%  higher mortality rate as compared to those participants with higher cholesterol levels (160 to 199). These deaths were predominantly from stroke, cancer, respiratory and digestive diseases and suicide.

The American Heart Association Task Force on Cholesterol Issues

In 1994, they issued a report stating that levels of cholesterol below 160 were associated with higher death rates from stroke, trauma, cancer, respiratory and infectious diseases.

An American Heart Association conference on stroke

A similar conclusion was reported in 1999. They affirmed that higher cholesterol levels do increased the risk of ischemic stroke. However, participants who had cholesterol levels under 180 were subject to the same risk of stroke as those who had higher cholesterol levels of 230.

Other studies with male participants indicated an almost 4-fold increased risk of cerebral hemorrhage in those with lower cholesterol levels (below 150) as compared to those with higher levels (190 and above).

Low Cholesterol levels and Mental Health Problems

Low cholesterol levels is also linked to detrimental mental health – there are increased cases of depression, anxiety and suicide.

  • A scientific research team from Duke University found a correlation between low cholesterol levels (below 160) and anxiety and depression in women who were otherwise healthy as compared to other healthy women who had moderate and even high levels of cholesterol
  • Other studies reported similar correlations in men who had significant low levels of cholesterol with severe depression problems.
  • According to a 2009 study, low cholesterol and depression are a deadly partners-in-arm. This study reported that men suffering from both severe depression and who had levels of cholesterol under 165 were at a 7-fold increased risk of dying prematurely ~ from accidents, suicide or drug overdose.

The Missing Link

Scientists believe that this missing golden key is serotonin. A neurotransmitter, serotonin is a mood enhancer. Low levels of this important ‘happy’ hormone predisposes a person to anxiety, depression, insomnia, hostility and a host of other serious mood imbalances, often leading to tragic consequences.

Cholesterol is a vital ingredient for Neurological Activity.

Among its many important roles, cholesterol is critical to the production of serotonin. Insufficient cholesterol predisposes a person to mood imbalances due to a lack of serotonin.

The’low-cholesterol-levels-is-good-for-health’ route may be detrmental to your health

The above are a few important reasons why you should not lower your cholesterol levels aggressively or at all costs. However, people all over the ‘developed’ world have believed and followed the ‘low-cholesterol-levels-is-good-for-health’ route for decades (unknowingly) to their detriment.

What is a ‘Good’ Cholesterol Level?

If you’re at a loss and wondering what to do with this information here, you’re in company. Join the club!

This question of an ideal healthy cholesterol level has no answer ~ simply because there isn’t one.

No-Nonsense Common Sense Suggestions

Here you will just need to exercise your plain, good old common sense ~ this is a very important survival tool to have.

  • Eat right (natural, not processed or GM-ed foods)
  • Exercise regularly
  • Maintain a healthy body weight
  • Adopt healthy lifestyle options (eg. cut out smoking, if you drink then drink moderately, reduce stress, live away from smogs,)

Then your cholesterol level will go to that level that is THE BEST FOR YOU – not an arbitrary figure given by some health authority. You, yourself must be your own health authority here.

You can also take further measures to make the most of what life has given you:

  • Throw out your low cholesterol recipes and diet.
  • Throw out TV dinners and fast and processed foods.
  • Eat natural food ingredients.
  • Use healthy natural fats like butter, cold-pressed olive oil and nut oils.
  • Take vitamin B.

A healthy diet is the golden key to good health, healthy weight and, by association, the correct, healthy cholesterol level FOR YOU.

Low-fat diets do not work. Continue eating natural fats ~ in moderation.

Contrary to popular belief all over the industrialized world, you don’t have to give up delicious fats like organic butter and cold-pressed nut oils. Moderation is the word.

Dietary cholesterol only contributes modestly to your total blood cholesterol level. Your liver has been assigned the important task of generating the cholesterol that your body needs for healthy functioning.

What is important, instead, is to completely eliminate hydogenated oils and reduce your consumption of carbohydrates and sugar.

Recommended Supplements

  • Omega-3 fatty acids from fish oils and fish. (These are also good natural anti-inflammatories. Inflammation is the cause of many degenerative diseases). These fatty acids also help boost serotonin levels.
    • Recommended dosage: 3,000 mg EPA/DHA per day.
  • Vitamin B Complex
    • Folic Acid: 5mg per day
    • B6: 100 mg per day
    • B12: 2,000 mcg per day

Just follow the recommendations here. Use your common sense. Let nature and the wisdom of your body do the rest. For the majority of us, this is all that is necessary to do.

Low cholesterol levels is not a marker of good health.

Heavy Metal Poisoning

Types of Erectile Dysfunction

Heavy metal poisoning is a serious health problem today.
.
For men, this can well lead to masculine sexual problems, including low libido, erectile dysfunction, impotence, low sperm count and infertility issues.

How to remove mercury and other heavy metals from your body – safely and inexpensively.

Heavy Metal PoisoningThe problem of heavy metal poisoning today all over the world has become one BIG serious problem.

I aim here to highlight a few methods that have been used successfully to remove these toxic metals from the body and help an afflicted person regain his health ~ and hopefully, without breaking the bank in the process of doing so.

Amalgam Fillings in Teeth

Heavy Metal PoisoningOne of the biggest causes of mercury poisoning is from amalgam fillings in your teeth – those metal fillings. The effects of mercury being slowly and insidiously released non-stop ALL THE TIME is a major contributor to many degenerative diseases that have afflicted man towards the latter part of the 20th century and now, in the 21st century.

Consult A Biological  Dentist
It is vital that you remove mercury from your body by SAFELY removing the mercury amalgams in your teeth. And you MUST take this precaution.

READ THIS AGAIN ~ You MUST take this precaution: Simply going to any dentist and having them removed IS NOT A SAFE METHOD.

Read again: Simply going to any dentist and having them removed IS NOT A SAFE METHOD.

There’s a science to removing mercury amalgams safely. You MUST go to a BIOLOGICAL Dentist who has had training in, and the equipment for, removing mercury amalgams.
.
Dentists who do not know how to do this can make matters worse. Why? How? What any ordinary dentist will do is drill the tooth with the offending filling. Once drilling starts, toxic mercury vapours are released and when you breathe in this, the mercury vapours go straight to your brain.

A trained biological dentist will know what and how to do so that, when the offending filling is drilled, you DO NOT breathe in the toxic fumes that are suddenly released. The trained dentists know what to do with the least amount of adverse effects.

Removing amalgam mercury fillings in your teeth is undoubtedly the most expensive part of a detoxification campaign to recover your health.

In the USA, an estimated 85% of people have at least one mercury filling (with each filling being approximately 50% mercury). Most people have several mercury amalgams.

A mouth with many amalgam mercury fillings is like a mine field waiting to explode. The constant off- gassing of mercury leads to the suppression of the immune system by as much as 88% as compared to a non-mercury burdened body.

Heavy Metals & Disease

The presence of mercury, aluminium and other heavy metals that include lead and cadmium can lead to a breeding ground of parasites, yeast, fungi and pathogens in our digestive tracts.

A great many common medical and health problems today can easily be resolved by removing these heavy metals from the body, and then going onto a yeast-elimination diet.

Testing for the Presence of Heavy Metals

Hair analysis is a popular method of checking for the presence of heavy metals. However, the preferred method of most experts who treat heavy metal poisoning is a urine analysis. This is a more accurate method as urinary porphyrins can reveal the presence of mercury and/or other toxic metals by evaluation of the porphyrin pathway.

Where do heavy metals come from?

If you think you are safe simply because you do not have any amalgam mercury fillings in your teeth, you can think again. YOU ARE WRONG. The air we breathe, the food we eat and the water we drink are constant sources of heavy metals.

A Salute to our Liver

Our stalwart and long-suffering livers do a splendid job of detoxifying the heavy metals in our body. But it can only do so much. And, this detoxification depends directly on the amount of nutrients we absorb from our diets.

Vitamins & Minerals

Dr. Boyd Haley is a Chemistry Professor and an expert on mercury toxicity. In his article, ‘Concepts for Safe Human Body Mercury Removal’, he stresses the importance, firstly, of using natural vitamins and supplements instead of automatically using chelating drugs such as EDTA DMSA or DMPS.

The most important supplements that will help your body to excrete mercury and other heavy metals are

  • ascorbates (Vitamin C)
  • lipoic acid
  • Methylcobaloamin (Methyl B-12) B-6
  • magnesium
  • selenium
  • melatonin
  • methionine and
  • glutathione

Supplementing with minerals such as Zeolite is also extremely helpful: this is because our bodies have a natural tendency to store heavy metals in the absence of, or a deficiency in, bio-available minerals.

A Washington dentist, Dr. Armand DeFelice specialises in safe mercury amalgam removals. He claims to be able to detoxify a patient from mercury poisoning in the space of 6 months by using a protocol he personally developed using supplements from Standard Process Labs, USA.

The Star of The Show…Glutathione, GSH

Dr. Haley advocates stimulating glutathione production inside the cells as this is THE most important factor for effective and successful treatments for autism.

A deficiency of glutathione is a precursor of a person’s inability to effectively excrete mercury, aluminium and pesticides from the body.

GSH is an anti-oxidant, an immune booster and a detoxifier all rolled into one. In its absence, your cells would simply disintegrate from unrestrained oxidation; your body would be virtually defenseless against bacteria, viruses and cancer; your liver would literally shrivel up from the eventual accumulation of toxins in the body.

There is enormous research being done on glutathione. 77,280 papers are available at PubMed.com

Healthy cells homeostatically oppose free radicals through the use of antioxidants, of which GSH plays a significant role. GSH is the most powerful antioxidant occurring naturally in the cells of our body.

The effectiveness of other antioxidants like vitamins C and E depends on the availability of GSH. This is also why GSH is essential in overcoming and preventing cancer, auto-immune diseases and other immune system related disorders.

GSH has a key role in the detoxification process; it has the ability to bind itself to heavy metals and other toxins through its sulfur molecules. This provides the means for the body to eliminate these toxins.

Studies done on autistic children have indicated low levels of GSH. Researchers attribute these to abnormalities in their methionine pathway.

Another Brownie point for GSH is its ability to protect (or at least minimise) against the deadly effect on all our good cells from all forms of radiation, ranging from x-rays to microwaves.

GSH Protection from Radiation

Dr.Deborah Baker wrote this: “A recent research article published in the journal Radiology states that ‘radiation from a single whole-body scan is equal to that from 100 mammograms and is similar to that received by survivors of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan—about 1 mile from the explosions—according to radiation biologist, David J. Brenner of Columbia University. The radiation from one scan is enough to produce a tumor in one out of 1,200 people and, for those who have annual scans, the risk increases to one tumor in every 50 people.’ With inadequate intracellular GSH, the risk is greatly increased.”

You might want to think twice before you next accept to undertake a scan, any scan.

Dietary sources of GSH:

Glutathione is synthesised from 3 amino acids, namely, glutamate, glycine and cystein.

Most healthy diets that are rich in raw vegetables and raw fruits contain an abundance of glutamate and glycine. Your focus must be put on dietary sources of cystein.

The following foods are high in cystein: eggs, meat, red peppers, garlic, onions, brussel sprouts, oats, milk, whey protein, and wheat germ.

Fruits and vegetables that are high in these precursors to GSH production include avocado, watermelon, asparagus, grapefruit, potato, acorn squash, strawberries, orange, tomato, cantaloupe, broccoli, okra, peach, zucchini, and spinach. Walnuts, asparagus and avocado as particularly good sources of Glutathione.
.
Cystein is also metabolised by the body in the presence of methionine. These 2 amino acids are the 2 sulfur-containing amino acids.

Supplementation Against Pollution

It is advisable to take supplements to deal with the stress our bodies undertakes when assaulted by the myriad pollutants in the daily life of the 21st century.  Effective GSH supplementation can reach the inside of our cells to help with heavy metal detoxification.

Some people have gotten acceptable results by using N-Acetyl-L-Cystein (NAC)which increases vital cellular glutathione levels. NAC has the power to neutralise mercury as a poison: the proper daily dose is 500 to 750mg.

Other treatments that work well for better metabolism of GSH include Epsom Salt baths and MSM supplementation.

Herbs for Eliminating Heavy Metals

There are several herbs and other foods that are exceedingly good for the elimination of heavy metals.
coriander for Heavy Metal Poisoning

  • To eliminate mercury, use cilantro, or coriander leaves and chlorella. You can make a delicious pesto by using lots of coriander leaves together with lots of raw garlic.
  • To eliminate aluminium, use bladderwrack, a seaweed.
  • To eliminate excess copper, use potassium.
  • To eliminate lead, use horsetail (shavegrass).
  • Bio-available minerals are very important and many herbs are excellent sources of these vital nutrients.
  • Dr. John R. Christopher, the famous herbalist, has a heavy-metal detox formula that contains bugleweed, cilantro, yellowdock and lobelia.
  • Tumeric, containing curcumin, is also another spice/herb that is excellent to use. Therapeutic doses in the treatment of Alzheimer’s patients have given good results. Alzheimer’s patients usually have excessive amounts of mercury and aluminium in their brains.

The Health of Your Liver
Whenever you are on any detoxification program, make sure that you clean and protect your liver as well. The following herbs are extremely important: Milk thistle is the star. Then there are barberry, dandelion root, chaparral, burdock root and red clover blossoms.

Chelation EDTA, DMSA and DMPS
These are the most common protocols of chelating mercury from the body. These are available both in oral and IV forms. However, DMPS is the star when it comes to speed in removing mercury and lead from the body. It is also the longest lasting.

However, there is a down-side. The treatment is harsh on the body and it also has a tendency to also chelate beneficial minerals. This method does not always give successful results.

A certain Dr. Rashid Batter, to treat his autistic son, developed a trans-dermal DMPS designed to specifically chelate mercury in autistic children. This method requires a prescription.

Clay Baths
Magnetic clay baths give successful results for the detoxing of mercury aluminium, radiation and other environmental pollutants such as those found in ‘chem-trails’.

The results that can be had from using this method can be phenomenal. It is definitely worth the money for the results that it can give in actually getting the wretched metals and other chemicals out of your body. You may need to take a few or many baths to get the full effect. With your first successful bath, be warned, you may get hooked! and will likely want to share the secret with others.

12 specific clay baths, each of which is infused and enhanced with specific herbs designed to pull out specific contaminant(s) that need removal, can be obtained here www.magneticclay.com

Ionic Foot baths  This is quite an innovative way of getting heavy metals and toxins through the soles of the feet. Practitioners who use therapeutic foot baths in their office caution to drink a lot of water after a session and to supplement with ionic minerals.

While there are certainly very colourful and wonderful testimonials from people having used the baths, there have been few, if any, laboratory analyses of the water.

The foot pad method
This is based on the same principal of drawing metals/toxins through the soles of the feet. This method is fairly effortless as the food pads are applied to the soles of the feet prior to going to bed at night.

On the www.bodypureno.com, a dentist testifies that the following toxins were pulled out of his body via the soles of his feet; mercury, isopropyl alcohol, benzene nickel, asbestos, dimethylaminoazobenzene and PCBs.

Energetic Healing – The Future
This may raise the guards of the skeptical in you!

An exciting, inexpensive and simple way to release heavy metals in you body was used by a certain Tenna Merchant. Her son was diagnosed autistic. In her search for anything that might cure him, she consulted a master herbalist to release the aluminium toxicity in his body.

They used this prayer: “Jesus, I ask that You release the reverse polarity in ___’s brain, body and energy field. I ask that You reabsorb his healthy polarity back into his body as God intended it, and I ask that You restore his body to a state of unconditional love and forgiveness as God intended it.”

Apparently, the 3 key steps in this prayer are: Release, Reabsorb and Restore.

According to Tenna Merchant, this did work, and her son was subsequently free from aluminium toxicity. Don’t be too skeptical…there are things stranger than fiction. I walked on live coals once and did not even get a single blister, not even a teeny weeny one. How do you explain that?

Pendulum Power & Release Codes

For many people, this simple method will simply test their faith in the power of the universe for healing. In addition, Tenna Merchant makes use of a pendulum both for the diagnosis and for the choice of herbs and other remedies for her family.

She also makes use of ‘release codes’ which are described as thus: “Each letter and number has its own geometry and vibration. This geometric vibration can be imprinted onto a person through a release code in a way similar to how one of the homeopathic machines imprints a homeopathic vibration onto a remedy.”

Each release code is specific to each individual and is in tune with that person’s particular energetic issues as related to that specific health problem.

Futuristic Healing

Perhaps the next wave of futuristic healing is vibrational. This will empower people to ultimately take charge of their own healthcare needs including heavy metal elimination.
